HOUSE OF HOUSES

Project: Residential Single Family — New Construction, Interior Design, Landscape Design
Location: Little Fort Hwy
Description:
Situated on a hill covered with long wavy grass, this unique house blends seamlessly into its surroundings and almost disappears among the lush hillside. Covering a total of 4,000 SF, House of Houses is designed to follow the natural movement of the landscape.
The stone foundation of the light brown untreated wooden facades allows it to be in perfect dialogue with the terrain, creating a harmonious blend of nature and architecture. The roof surface is covered with local grass and moss and slopes partly towards and partly with the hill, giving the house a natural look and feel.
Most of the rooms are oriented towards the home’s sunny side to collect the maximum amount of sunlight during the day. Energy-saving windows prevent the heated or cooled air from leaving the home. The home is also ventilated with air recovery, supported by ICF foundation and Swedish slab, mineral wool, and green roof, all providing the home with insulation from its foundation to its roof.
The green roof is accessible both from the outside and from the play and sleep loft inside the house. Standing on the top of the roof, one is greeted with a magnificent and ever-changing panorama of the lake and surrounding mountains. It’s the perfect spot to relax and take in the beauty of nature.
